lilbird? what's marionberry taste like?
I like the marionberry because it is a nice berry flavor but you don't notice the seeds, unlike raspberry or blackberry. It's a milder berry flavor. If I want to bump up the flavor I toss in a handful of blueberries. :)

greeneyes, I love yogurt too! I like... here comes the plug... Cascade Fresh, fat free. It's all natural, no rBGH, fruit juice sweetened and has eight active cultures. That's the highest number I've found around here.

That sounds good. I'm going to have to try it next time I visit my sister. My fave right now is lemon, is about 10% milkfat (really high for you non-yogurters) and if you froze it would be more like light ice cream.

:D :D :D
Or there's the Activia Apple and Muesli - tasty and good for you.

mmmmm lamb rogan gosh. Not the best I've had but passable

On behalf of all us ignorant americans (and maybe a few brits!), what on earth is "lamb rogan gosh"?

sprtigger
03-27-2006, 10:32 PM
I very much doubt any brits would not know what rogan gosh is, unless they live on the isle of man.
But for north Americans, It is Indian (from India rather than Native american).
I'm coming to north america for a while (18 months) my bigist fear (apart from the rabbid "christians") is lack of decent food, coffee, and chocolate. Not knowing what rogan gosh is a bit concerning. But that is why I'm going to have a big gork (look) at those weird and wonderful people, and see if I can get a handle on them.
Do you know Vidaloo?
Well rogan gosh is not hot, but is spicy, I supose it is a bit like a gumbo or stew. With thick sauce.
The lamb stays in lumps when you serve it but when you dig your fork in it it flakes like fish, yumm yumm yumm.
Go find an Indian resturant and try their food it is great! P.s they do great vegitarian as many Indians don't eat meat as part of their religion. oh and pumpkin is yummy and not pig food.

My plans are pretty fluid. I'm starting in Montreal, going to trip round there for a month. Then try and pick up some work. Some sort of side trip to NY and Boston to see some mates.
To boulder Colorado for 6th October (wedding), and Las Vegas for a week around then.
and then maybe up to Vancouver for the ski season, I'll see how the work is going.
Then once my visa runs out, and depending how homesick I am (it will be the longest I’ve been without a trip home) I'm going to checkout the rest of the US, Cuba and Ecuador (I have a mate there).
I'll just keep moving till something stops me, I get bored or homesick.
P.S I am eating right now Lamb and Tofu Satay Skewers, Indonesian Style, with vegie crackers (like prawn cracker but vegie) and cucumber salad.

Montreal's split up into areas (which are in brackets). Here're my sister's faves in the area:

L'Academie (Duluth and St. Denis) - fancier restaurant.
Buffet Maharajah (Rene Levesque) - I've been here, good indian buffet
Wok n' Roll (St. Denis)
Beauty's (Mont Royal) - diner. It's always "five minutes" to get a seat.
Jardin Nelson (old Montreal) - completely open air. Very neat.
Chu Chai (St. Denis) Thai vegetarian
Jardin de Panos (Duluth east of St. Denis)
Sans Menu (Notre Dame)

As for me, just finished Orville Redenbacher Tender White popcorn which is good but I"m thinking a little greasy. But I'm really picky and usually go with lite natural popcorn so it's probably just me. Next, gold medal ribbon ice cream from B&R. Mm-hmm, I love weekends*!

But I'm hoping real food from someplace else might help, and to that end, I'm going to do an MA and offer my appetite up to your caprices. :D Dinner won't be until about 7 so there's plenty of time. But there are some things I just won't eat so I am setting limits!

Where should I get dinner from? The options are:

Noodles - either Thai curry soup or whole-grain Tuscan fettucine
Chicken Shack: English cod dinner with fries (usually saved for password-trying sessions. :D)

mmmm.. I love skippy, it tastes soo good, and is enivironmentally friendly : )
the Satay they do here is great just the right amount of kick and penutty goodness.

I've heard that skippy tastes 'grassy'. Not sure what that means precisely. Any clarification? Does it (like everything else that's somewhat exotic) taste like chicken?

Also, I had the quesadilla with sour cream and guacamole. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. I do feel a bit better. :) But that could be the Tylenol and aspirin working too.

And I checked for Milsean at the local semi-gourmet-ish grocery. No such luck - but there are some weird-damn chocolate bars out there!

EDIT!

And I almost forgot. I found a box of gingerbread I'd forgotten about, it should still be good, so I'll make that before watching Nemo. :D

Skippy tastes more like venison than chicken (so not at all like chicken at all).
sort of a cross between venison, beef and goat quite gamey (that may have been what they meant instead of grassy, or though it does taste a bit like clover now you mention it).
It is yumm anyway, but be careful not to overcook it or you'll need an ice pack for your jaw!
FYI Crocodile tastes like fish and is foul, in my opinion
oh are Moose protected, I'd like to try them when I'm over (if it is OK)?

They do have moose hunting so they're probably managed by the states/provinces. Don't know if you can get moose meat in a restaurant, probably more likely to when you go further west. Or maybe not, never can tell what them canadians might be up to! ;)

Oh, and the seagulls say 'mine' all the way through!

Maybe Woolworths. Well, they should anyway

Kangaroo is so damn nice! I can't get enough of it! Anyone who complains about us killing and eating our national fauna (I have a feeling it isn't actually...), then just realise that kangaroo's (most species) are in plague proportions in many parts of Australia. Seriously, something more needs to be done about it (I'm not for killing animals, but the fact is there are too many for environments to support)

"Them canadians" do indeed have moose. There's an aboriginal restaurant here in Ottawa that has a venison dish that switches with the seasons.

I found moose to taste fishy - to be honest with you, not my favourite. Try deer, or game birds (pheasant or goose) if you get a chance.

If you get a good restaurant that serves venison in general - try it. yum. :)

Before the hour is through, I will be eating little chocolate donuts -- the breakfast of champions. (though it is the afternoon here)

I've had moose that my uncle hunted. I have zero recollection how it tasted.
Pheasant is awesome. Best way to get those is to hit 'em with the grill of your car -- kills and tenderizes all in one shot.
Also, you might try bison meat while you're over. I've never had it, but some people seem to enjoy it.

sprtigger
04-06-2006, 12:46 AM
I've heard bison tastes like Yak. Also Camel I've seen mixed results (like anything if cooked badly can taste foul, so Australia over Africa).
I like duck, but quail and pigeon has horrid little bones which suck, and a bit too smokey flavoured for my liking.

P.s I'm drinking Lemsip - I do not have a cold, this is not happening to me.

How about cows? with their cute eyes and long lashes.
Sheepies? which are all warm, cuddly and so heverly genically modified they can no longer survive in the wild.
Goats? with their cute tendency to eat the wasshing off th e line.
Deer? who can forget bambi?
Chickens, ducks and bunnies are just evil.

well you take a tortilla and cut it into triangles then you but them into triangles. then you get a frying pan and put some vegetable oil not too much just enough to cover the bottom of the pan into it let the it almost bubble then put the tortillas into the oil until they becme crunchy (you have to flip them normally) and then have a plate with cinnamon on it and a little bit of sugar mixed in and then when the tortilla is crunchy put it on the late so that the cinnamon sticks to it flip it over a few times then let it cool and eat it. my grandma taught me how to make them mine are killer and I swear im not trying to be conceeded(cant spell) everyone thats eaten one ie made have like gotten addicted and accept them as birthday gifts

I went grocery shopping this morning completely full from a late dinner yet still bought snacks on impulse. So that theory sucks. I think it's the morning hour - when I go at a regular person's time, I have no trouble avoiding snacks cuz of all the in-store traffic.

But I digress. What I'm eating right now is Tostitos Sensations Red Chile and Lime tortilla chips. Mm-hmm good. The chile? with the lime? good with beer. Wish I had a beer. :(

Wait a minute... brb!

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h248/cabri729/beer.gif Aaah. I was right. It goes great with beer!

Spring mix salad (dole's) with veggie medley (Mann's) mixed in and Ken's Northern Italian dressing. Thank goodness for prepackaged prewashed veggies!

Plus most of my greens are actually the red things today, cuz those are the ones that turn black and rotten first. Nothing like opening up the salad bag to find all the still-fresh green stuff coated with black slimy leaves. AACK!

An orange with a Twix bar - for those not in the know, basically 2 long cookies covered in caramel then chocolate. Sort of a Kit Kat with more cookie. And caramel added. So, not really like a Kit Kat. ;)

just munch on radishes while you eat beer :)

although, can only stand like two or three at a time, I can't just eat them constantly like peanuts...the spicyness kind of gets to me.

but, two or three at a time in half-hour intervals seems to work.

They really actually incredibly go well with beer :)
