No, not comix, not graphic novels, just those 4-pane strips in the papers!!!
Non Sequitur by Wiley Miller - I just love Danae and Lucy... and Obviousman!
Zits by Scott & Borgman - I wish they had this one at Ucomics. I can only read it on Sunday.
Calvin & Hobbes by Bill Watterson - best comic strip ever!
FoxTrot by Bill Amend - When the geekbrat was waiting in line for SW ep.1 for six months, it was just hysterical.
For Better or Worse by Lynn Johnson - been reading her for a long long time and she still hits the spot!
Prickly City by Scott Stantis - okay, I have to admit I got the viewpoint on this one all wrong. I thought it was about a smart little liberal coyote having to deal with this stupid neo-con little girl. Erp. Guess it was the other way around. But it's so much funnier my way, cuz it's cool to make fun of the democrats when you're a non-democrat liberal! So if you want to flame me for being an idiot, well, wait in line! I'm there first.
Boondocks by Aaron McGruder - I just love the grandpa... and the way he punctures other people's pretensions. Tho he does go a little overboard sometimes!

They used to run a comic strip in the Austin Chronicle called Red Meat. It was fantastically sick and twisted. Where have you gone Red Meat?!

Calvin and Hobbes is awesome. I've got to add The Far Side, of course. And Bloom County with Opus and Bill the Cat, the guy in the wheelchair, and the cricket that whispered things in people's ears while they slept. These three comics were the best ever.

Ha haha haha
Sorry, I just spent the weekend with my nephews... They yell, "dogpile on _____!" Then run over and jump on the person (usually daddy) until that person is buried under a pile of giggling wiggling kids. It didn't even cross my mind to consider the alternatives.
I wonder about the etymology of that expression. ;)

When I was at school it was the cry of "BUNDLE!" and then everyone would just bundle on top of some unfortunate kid. Not that I ever participated in any such shennanigans of course!

Nothing beats Calvin and Hobbes! I also like Boondocks; the new [Boondocks] cartoon is pretty cool also.
Do webcomics count, too? :P

Sure, as long they follow the same format. So must be publishable format-wise in a paper even if they're not in a paper. Cuz if they're not, they're not a comic strip!

Yeah, I paid the $10 for a year's worth of unlimited comics sent by email cuz I couldn't handle just the 1 a day. Still hoping they eventually get Zits! Every couple of months I mix 'em up to catch new ones. I'll probably add Kaos' choice of Red Meat - I still laugh when I think of it!
Let's see if I can get today's to you:
Erp. Can't even get a shortcut without them asking for registration. How do you get the thumbnail?
Let's see if that worked... ---yaaaay!

Yes, I'm clueless - and proud of it! :p

Of course to Calvin and Hobbes, Bloom County, The Far Side, Peanuts, Boondocks
In no particular order:
Mafalda (Argentinian, the spanish-language cultural equivalent to Peanuts)
Krazy Kat
Pogo
Dilbert
Get Fuzzy
Liberty Meadows
Non-sequitur
For Better or Worse (always feels like a guilty pleasure, tho)
Foxtrot
Bizarro (back in the day, anyway-feels like reruns now)
Little Nemo in lumberland (if nothing else the art is a constant inspiration)
Bob the Angry Flower (robots and lasers, c'mon!)
Doonesbury
Frumpy the Clown
Tom Tomorrow
Life in Hell (!)
"Love is a snowmobile racing across the tundra and then suddenly it flips over, pinning you underneath. At night, the ice weasels come."
PS: It's not as bad as it seems, my roommate works at a comic book store
and brings a lot of this stuff home :)

Frazz by Jef Mallett
When it first came out many people thought it was Watterson publishing a new strip under a pseudonym (and not just because of Frazz's hair, although I'm sure it didn't hurt). It's smart and funny. You can check it out at Frazz at Comics.com (http://www.comics.com/comics/frazz/index.html)

p.s. gotta love america...there's always room for profit...even when profiting means the exploitation of doing what's right for the environment...as much as i can bitch about it, god, i love the fact capitalism makes it possible, lol...god bless this country...go green, but only if we can make money of it!!!
(seriously, not sarcasm, i've studied in non-democratic countries, and really, i do love this about america....cracks me up, but it's like the drunk uncle at your wedding...you make fun of him, but you're damned glad he's there)

I'm pretty sure Calvin & Hobbes is the most favoritest comic strip in the English-speaking North American world.
